A Canadian 19th Century Grand Trunk Railway Rifle Volunteers Sword
A very rare and scarce Canadian 19th Century Grand Trunk Railway Rifle Volunteers Sword. This sword was carried by a senior employee of the railway who joined the company’s volunteer rifle regiment, probably in the 1860’s. Sword is of 1827 Pattern Rifle Officer’s type with strung bugle inset to the steel hilt. The grip is bound with fishskin and copper twistwire. The blade is etched with the Grand Trunk Railway name and Rifle Volunteers. Also included is the Queen Victoria (VR) royal cypher, crown and scrolling foliage. Complete with original steel scabbard.
Condition of the Sword
In excellent condition – blade particularly bright, crisp and clean. Some light staining to scabbar.

Blade length is 32 inches (38 inches overall).
