British 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer Picquet Sword

An early example of a British 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword

This is a picquet weight sword that would have been carried by an officer for dress and formal occasions such as regimental dinners and balls.  It is from the reign of King William IV (1830-1837) and features his royal cypher to the hilt.  The blade retains its original fishskin and brass twistwire to the grip and comes complete with it original leather and brass mounted scabbard.  The blade is of pipe back form and has a royal cypher etched to the blade on both sides.

Condition of the Sword

In good condition for its age with light staining to the blade.  Scabbard with old repair.

Specifications of the Sword

Blade length is 32 inches (37 inches overall).
