A fine example of a British 1889 Pattern Infantry Sergeant's Sword - Hampshire Regiment
This a scarcely encountered British 1889 Pattern Infantry Sergeant's Sword marked to the Hampshire Regiment. It was originally issued in 1899 and markings to the hilt and blade indicate re-issuing in 1906, 1909 and 1912. The sword is of typical regulation pattern and comprises a brass Gothic hilt with an inset royal "VR". It is marked to the Hampshire regiment on the top of the quillon. Numerous issue marks are seen on the blade fortes and the sword was made by Wilkinson. It is complete with its original and correct scabbard that it also marked to the Hampshire Regiment.
