British C.WW1 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword

An original British Army military officer's sword from the First War.  This is an unusual example as it features an exaggerated "dumb-bell" type hilt.  The hilt has the crown and royal cypher of King George V.  It was retailed by the little known military outfitters, Studd and Millington of West London.  The grip is bound with leather and copper twistwire.  The blade is of standard pattern and features a number of etched motifs including royal cypher and scrolling foliage.  Complete with leather field service scabbard and frog.

Condition of the Sword

In good overall condition.  Some service wear to the grip and scabbard.

Specifications of the Sword

Blade length is 33.5 inches (38.5 inches overall).
