A rare and fine example of a French Napoleonic Model XI Heavy Cavalry Trooper's Sword
These swords are becoming extremely difficult to find nowadays and especially this model with the earlier scabbard. With large four-bar brass hilt and leather and brass twistwire to the grip. Stamped with issue marks to the knucklebow. Fullered blade with spear point. Complete with heavy iron scabbard that has an impressed mark to the top of throat - cannot make out but assume it is a maker's mark. A good example at a fair price - these swords are currently being sold for far in excess of this price and with the anniversary of Waterloo not too far away, prices will naturally rocket.
Condition of the Sword
In good overall condition - twistwire a little loose to grip. Blade with fine smooth age patina.
Specifications of the Sword
Blade length is 37.5 inches (44 inches overall).
