An Original Nepalese Gurkha Kukri and Scabbard knife.  The hilt made from horn and secured with brass rivets and decorated with coloured stones.  Complete with black leather scabbard.  One strap missing(?).  Forging crack/flaw near tip of blade.

Background to Nepalese kukris

The kukri is a Nepalese knife with an inwardly curved edge, used as both a tool and as a weapon in Nepal and neighbouring countries of South Asia. It is also used as a basic utility knife.  It is a key fighting weapon of the Nepalese Army, the Royal Gurkha Rifles and of all Gurkha regiments throughout the world.  The “kukri” and “kukkri” spellings are Western in origin and the original Nepalese spelling being khukuri.  For more information on the history of this famous fighting knife please go to here.Blade length is 14 inches (18.5 inches overall).
