A unique British WW1 Royal Flying Corps KIA Framed Memorial

This is a fine British WW1 Royal Flying Corps KIA Framed Memorial.  A unique and moving example of a WW1 British carved wooden framed memorial to Lieutenant Albert Henry Peters of the Royal Flying Corps who flew with 54 Squadron, a famous fighter squadron that had many aces.  For more information on the squadron go to here.  I have been able to acquire his army records and it appears that he joined the RFC as a cadet and was killed in France on May 15th 1918 – he is buried at the Les Baraques military cemetery in Northern France.  The lifespan of new pilots was very short in WW1.  There is the chance here to fully research this officer and it would make a great project.  The heavy wood frame features aircraft, vehicles, angels and soldiers with bowed heads.  In the middle is a glass frame that houses the details of Lieutenant Peters. This was no doubt commissioned by the family.

Condition of the Memorial
