A very scarce English c.1720 Naval Military Cutlass Hanger Sword

This is a fine example of an English c.1720 Naval Military Cutlass Hanger Sword.  It is of a type carried by both naval officers and seaman and comprises a brass mounted hilt and hardwood grip.  The blade is slightly curved and has two deeply impressed King's Head marks that are normally associated with the German Wundes sword making family of Solingen.  It comes complete with a later leather and brass mounted scabbard and belt frog.

Condition of the Sword

In very good condition for its age and with a dark patina to the blade.

Specifications of the Sword

Blade length is 20.5 inches (25 inches overall).
